Beautiful Logan Canyon

First Dam Park

First Dam Park is located at the mouth of Logan Canyon. It has a nice lake that you can fish in, a grassy area with picnic tables to have a picnic or you can just relax and enjoy the scenery. There are also a lot of ducks and geese however there are signs all over asking you not to feed. One thing to note about this place is because it is near the mouth it is very popular in the evenings and weekends. There is also a nice shoreline trail on the side.

The is enough room to work side by side in groups. Dogs are also allowed on the trail which is not common for the Logan area. It was great to see the dogs walking along the trail. The Trail does have an incline at the beginning, but it levels out when you get near the top. If you go in the afternoon I would recommend you bring water and wear good shows.

Second Dam Picnic Area

The Second Dam Picnic Area is a great place to take your family for a little picnic. You have great views of the valley and of the canyon from this dam. It is great to fish here, however, I have only had success with live worms. I would defiantly recommend this place for a nice little picnic. Though not as big as First Dam it is great, and they have signs up around to let you know about the Dam and why it is there is the first place.

Wind Caves Trail Head

The Wind Caves Trail Head is a nice (and popular) hike in Logan Canyon. It starts about 5 miles up the canyon and the trailhead is on the left side of the road as you are driving up the canyon. There is a little parking on the left side by the trailhead or you can park on the side of the road in either direction. The trail leads you to a delicate triple arch and a natural cave that is cool to see in and look out into the canyon. The trail is fairly difficult, and water and food are recommended. It is two miles in and two miles out and the elevation change is about 1000ft. The trail is easily marked though a few steep parks and be careful of any loose rocks. You will need to watch out for other hikers and the same way you go in is the same way you go out and a few parks of the trail are too skinny to easily pass however most people will get to the side if they can.
