The Bluebird Restaurant – A Great Home Style Cafe

Bluebird Restaurant Logo

The Bluebird Restaurant opened for business on February 22, 1923. Business was excellent until the Great Depression, however, thanks to the two owners and some dedicated employees the restaurant was able to make it through The Great Depression. It originally started as a candy shop however it soon branched off into serving home-styled meals as well. Today you can continue to get both candy and a good home cooked meal from the Bluebird Restaurant.

The Food

After eating here many times I can say that the food here is excellent. I love the service and the warm rolls that come with each meal are great. I always look forward to when I can come here. I have eaten here a few times and I have tried the Reuben Sandwich, Burger, and the Grilled Chicken Sandwich. Out of the three I would have to say that the Reuben was my favorite. The other two were okay however there wasn’t anything special about them. The Reuben, on the other hand, was very good.

For those that don’t know a Reuben is an American hot sandwich composed of corned beef, Swiss cheese, sauerkraut, and Russian dressing, grilled between slices of rye bread. I normally don’t care for a Reuben, but I decided to try it and it was very good. The corned beef was “melt in your mouth good”. The sauerkraut was also good, and I always like a good slice of melted swiss. The Rye bread was not dry and had a great taste.

The Building

Walking into the Bluebird Restaurant is really like taking a step back in time. The building looks like the early twentieth century meets the early twenty-first century. The building itself looks old and from what I have talked to people in Logan it is mostly original. The restaurant, on the other hand, has kept up with the times and is using modern equipment to take and make orders. The environment here is really relaxed. It is a nice place to catch your breath, get out of the heat and just enjoy a nice meal.

If you are in the Logan area and are wanting some good old fashioned food in a great building I would definitely recommend eating here. They are open Monday through Saturday and are closed Sundays. If you want to look at their menu you can follow this link to get it from their website.
